IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR… WELL, AND A FEW FRIENDS

(l-r) Matt, Jake and Patrick

Since our founding, in 1994, First Impression has hired locally. We hire friends, neighbors and family. Why? Well, they are great people. Hard working. Dedicated. Responsible. Ethical.

This is a local business serving local people. So it just makes sense to pull from the local talent pool to hire some of the most experienced, skilled staff into the First Impression Print & Design team. When we get those gigantic contracts from national firms with international clients, we’re able to deliver the same hometown “we care about you” quality service that we deliver to everyone who walks in the door.

There have been a few snags along the way. I’ve learned to listen carefully to what people say they want for a career, work-life balance, continuing education to make sure I can meet those desires. I work hard to match what job opportunities First Impression Print & Design can offer to the expertise, qualifications of each job applicant. There have been times when I’ve had to turn away someone I considered a friend, because my business wasn’t a good match. It always makes me feel bad.

On the other hand I’ve tried to build a company culture where we have fun. A place where people want to come to work in the morning. A business that each employee is proud to say they work for.

At one time or another, every one of my four kids have worked for First Impression Print & Design. Most recently it was my 14-year-old, Jake, who after hand applying three stamps to more than 1,500 envelopes in just one weekend decided he never wants to work for me again. Right now he wants to be a banker, like his grandpa, I’m sure in part because he won’t have to ever see that many stamps again.

First Impression Print & Design is growing. We’re anticipating hiring additional experienced staff in the coming year. If you are interested or know someone who is interested, have them give me a call.
